Capacity
Two-to-twelve people, the Cottage and the orchard, signed and sealed.
For two to twelve people, an elopement at the Museum at Hoppenville centers on the Cottage: the restored 1850s one-room schoolhouse, with three bedrooms, a full kitchen, a private porch, and an orchard view. Book it as a private overnight stay wrapped around your ceremony, or use the porch and the surrounding grounds for the vows. A dozen guests or fewer move easily through a space built for exactly that scale, not echoing in a room sized for hundreds. Day-of coordination comes with every rental, and we walk you through the timeline at least twice, so a two-person elopement gets the same attention as a 220-person wedding in the Welcome Center. Outside florists, photographers, planners, and entertainment are welcome here, from our preferred list or your own choosing; catering is exclusive to Robert Ryan Catering & Design or Tosco's Catering, the two caterers who work every event on the property. Bar service is handled by a licensed, insured bartender or caterer. Every rental includes an indoor rain plan at no extra cost, with the call made together 24 to 48 hours out, so weather never threatens a day built around just the two of you. Tours run Tuesday through Saturday by appointment: walk the Cottage and the orchard together before you commit to the date.
