Spring Wedding at the Museum

Magnolia, dogwood, the lawns at their first green of the year.

Season

Magnolia, dogwood, the lawns at their first green of the year.

Spring at the estate is unpredictable in the best and worst ways: one week the magnolia and dogwood are still holding their color and the lawns have just come into their first green, the next you are watching the forecast for an afternoon shower. That is why every venue here carries an indoor rain plan at no extra cost, and why we make the call together with you 24 to 48 hours out rather than leaving you guessing on the morning of. The Welcome Center is the venue we point spring couples toward first: its full-length patio opens straight onto the gardens, so on a clear, mild afternoon your ceremony and cocktail hour can move outside and back in without missing a beat, and the 20-foot ceilings and stone fireplace still read warm if the weather turns cool, which it can in April and even early May here in the Upper Perkiomen Valley. If you are drawn to the Bank Barn instead, know that its doors stay open for the breeze rather than running climate control, which is part of its character in spring but worth planning your attire around. Either way, catering comes from Robert Ryan Catering & Design or Tosco's Catering, and you are free to bring in your own florist, photographer, or band, or work from our preferred list. Tours run Tuesday through Saturday by appointment if you want to see the gardens as they wake up.
